There are a wide variety of Under deck and deck or patio ceiling systems on the market. These systems are commonly made from vinyl, steel or aluminum.
- Vinyl is lightweight but has little structural strength. These systems require reinforcement when spanning long distances. Often these reinforcements act as areas that trap and hold water and debris and this can cause damage to both the Underdecking system as well as the deck structure above it. Color choices in vinyl are limited.
- Steel is strong but very heavy, especially for a ceiling product. Steel must be galvanized or otherwise protected from rust. The cut ends and trimmed areas of a steel underdeck are still susceptible to rust even if they are galvanized. Again, colors may be limited.
- Magnolia Underdecking is manufactured from aluminum. Aluminum It is both lightweight and strong. It will not rust, nor will it become brittle with age or exposure to the elements. It is available in a wide range of standard colors. Each panel is able to be easily removed for any maintenance or access.
